Solidarité avec les étudiants et le personnel de l’Université Jawaharlal Nehru contre les brutales attaques fascistes !
Dimanche 5 janvier, les étudiants de l’Université Jawaharlal Nehru (JNU) de New Delhi ont été brutalement attaqués sur leur campus par un groupe de voyous de droite masqués. Armés de bâtons, de barres de fer et de pierres, les assaillants ont ciblé étudiants, professeurs et personnel, blessant plus de 40 personnes dont Aishe Ghosh, présidente du syndicat des étudiants. La résidence universitaire a également été vandalisée, ainsi que des voitures.
Cette attaque se produit alors que les étudiants sont mobilisés depuis plusieurs mois contre la hausse des frais d’inscription et sont au premier rang de la lutte contre la tristement célèbre et discriminatoire Loi de réforme de la citoyenneté. Les assaillants, liés à l’organisation étudiante ABVP, proche du parti au pouvoir BJP, , ont plus particulièrement ciblé les étudiants de gauche et musulmans, démontrant leur objectifs réactionnaires et racistes.
La police, qui a récemment multiplié les violences contre les étudiants mobilisés, est restée d’une passivité coupable pendant l’attaque.
Le Mouvement jeunes communistes de France (MJCF) et sa branche étudiants, l’Union des étudiants communistes (UEC) condamnent fermement l’attaque contre la JNU et la complicité du gouvernement Modi dans celle-ci. Nous exprimons notre solidarité avec les jeunes et les étudiants indiens qui luttent pour une éducation accessible et de qualité et un Etat démocratique et laïc.
Le fascisme ne passera pas, nous vaincrons !

Solidarity with the students and staff of JNU in India against brutal fascist attacks !
On Sunday, January 5th, the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi (JNU) were brutally attacked in their campus by a group of right-wing masked thugs. Armed with sticks, iron rods and stones, the attackers targeted students, teachers and staff, injuring more than 40, including Aishe Ghosh, the president of the Students’ Union. The university’s students’ hostel was also vandalised, as well as cars.
This attack occurs at the time when the students have been mobilising for several months against a fee hike and been at the forefront of the struggle against the infamous and discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act. The attackers, linked to the BJP-related students organisation ABVP, particularly targeted left-wing and Muslim students, clearly demonstrating their reactionary and racist objectives.
The police, which has recently multiplied violences against mobilised students, remained guiltily passive during the attack.
The Young Communists Movement of France (MJCF) and its students’ branch, the Communist Students’ Union (UEC) strongly condemn the attack on JNU and the complicity of the Modi government in the latter. We express our solidarity towards the Indian youth and students who are struggling for quality and affordable education and for a democratic and secular State.
Fascism shall not pass, we will win !
